Eat The Word |
Notes on eating the Word. |
I’ve felt the pain of compromise so deep inside.
I’ve known the tension of a heart that’s divided,
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen your good,
and now I’m ruined for less than all you have for me.

Everything that gets in the way of receiving your love,
I’m giving it back to you.
Everything that gets int he way of receiving love from you.
I’m giving it back to you.
Take it away. O Take it away.

Matthew 5:43-48

He’s giving me a new imagination. He’s healing my creativity so that I can see myself whole in him. Upright and strong in him. Walking with him, receiving the promises. They are manna cascading from the clouds like flakes of love landing on my tongue.
I assault my fears with my new imagination for strength in Christ – he in whom all things are possible. I battle all rejection with the unfolding, constantly emerging scene of Christ in the river, the Dove pouring over him, his Father heralding him – this is my Son who I love, I’m so pleased with him. I receive that same affirmation as Jesus utters the words that as the Father has loved him so he loves me.*
I am using my imagination to see the realer realities. Fantasy is fading and horrors are evaporating as I believe freshly with new faith in the promises of the Son of God. I am his and he is mine.
*(John 15:9)
Psalm 139:5 (the Message)
My body is wasted tired. My spirit is tired. I’m believing that you care. By faith, believing that you’re working out plan, long in action, for my good and your glory.
I don’t despise the way you love me.
Isaiah 9:7

A good friend would pull out the rug from under you, to love you into reality. A great friend would take the fall for you. But no normal man would spill out his life to woo you and your enemies into the wildfires of an unquenchable love. This is the deadly friendship of the beautiful God. This is Jesus.
I’m glad to be with you this morning. I don’t have to perform for you even though you’re the king adorned with a crown of stars. You’re immanent and transcendent in the same breath. Who is like you? Who can love me as you do? Who knows my mind, but you? To ‘Know thyself’ may be of some importance, but only in as much as it leads me to begin to know you - which will be my holy recreation for all eternity.
